Do brides read I Do Magazine ?

A Couple of weeks ago an exhibitor told me that no-one reads I Do Magazine or looks on the I Do magazine website so I told I Do Members what he said...

Below is the replies we received...

I have read a couple of issues and it was really helpful - the featured weddings were good because you can realistically use the the local suppliers.

Are you kidding me? He has no clue!! I love I DO magazine I get excited when there is a new edition! Its an amazing read and you guys put so much effort and enthusiasm into your emails I think its great, in fact when I get married in July I shall miss it!! Ha ha I say he has no idea what he is talking about!! Don't listen to it and certainly don't believe it to be true, I am guessing I am not the only person to reply the same!!

I can't speak for any other brides but I've found I Do magazine really useful, not only have I read it but i've re-read it again and again and if I've needed ideas of where to look for something, it has been the first place i've looked before continuing my search. Alex and I have for it brilliant so I HOPE YOU CONTINUE TO PROVE THESE PEOPLE WRONG!!

I do read the magazine and have got a lot of ideas from it i.e. my cake design, and table decorations etc.  I love it!

Well im afraid he is terribly wrong, ive been to 3 wedding fayres and had the pleasure of the Derbyshire + Yorkshire magazine.

It is that good and gives you lots of ideas i handed it 2 a friend up in sheffield as she had never heard of it , and it really helped her out with some FANTASTIC ideas.

Any way the exhibitor must be 1 of those who is afraid to admit that I DO magazine Can almost be as good ( no in fact it is better) as an exhibitor , The I DO magazine gives you ideas in ALL aspects of marriage.

I get married in June ( 2nd time round ) and thanks to you and the team i would have been lost without the magazine + ideas. In fact it was the I do magazine that gave me the idea for burnt orange wedding dress so a BIG THANX to YOU ALL

I certainly do read the I Do Wedding Magazine and I have personally found it very helpful in giving me lots of ideas for my wedding on colour scheme, favour ideas etc.

Also I got my cake designer from the magazine.

Whatever the person said at the Wedding fayre tell Richard to ignore them, they certainly haven't got a clue!

I have actually read my copy of I Do magazine from cover to cover.

Since getting engaged I have purchased endless wedding magazines all of which are full of national suppliers mainly from the London area. It's refreshing to read I Do, a magazine which is dedicated to suppliers in Yorkshire, ones which I would actually likely to use. More importantly it was free!

I think it is a great help to any bride-to-be looking for inspiration, advice and local wedding suppliers.

Throughout the planning of my wedding I have generally preferred to use the internet when I'm looking for ideas. I mainly visit your website because it lists all the suppliers etc that are local to me.

Your emails are great! All the wedding fayres that I have attended, I have heard about from you. I also got a fantastic offer on my wedding cake, which again, I heard about from you. Thanks for that by the way, it saved me quite a few pennies that one did!!!

As for the rude exhibitor, ignore him and keep up the good work!

In response to your email, yes I do read your 'I do' Magazine when I have received one from the wedding fayres I have been too. What's more, we actually agreed on our colour scheme from an article in your 3rd issue 2009-2010, Pewter silver and shades of pink.
I have three editions of 'I do' and still use them for ideas and top tips.

I do read and keep all the I Do Magazines I get. I scanned through them at first to see if any of the adverts were for companies I knew and liked and for companies to help me with certain aspects of my wedding where I didn't know where was the best place to get it from.

Now I am due to have my wedding in a month I don't read it really as all my wedding planning is done and I'm just waiting for my wonderful big day.

Yeah, I read it when I got given it at a wedding fayre. It was useful for ideas, although I did not end up using any of the suppliers in it.

I've actually only ever had one copy of this magazine that I got at a Wedding Fayre in the summer of last year and have not seen a newer edition since. I found it relatively useful for ideas etc but if I'm honest I have tried to avoid reading wedding publications because I don't think they help people feel calm and relaxed about what they have done so far! This is probably due to the fact I am getting married in just a few weeks, I do think the magazine is helpful for people that are starting planning a wedding to give them some advice and a starting block in terms of things that need to be considered.

Yes I read 'I Do Magazine' cover to cover (as does the hubby to be!) - the only bridal magazine he has picked up actually! I love that it is purely regional as it means that every page is relevant to us. We have booked several suppliers through seeing them first in I Do. I have even popped into wedding fayres just to get the latest copy!
It feels much more substantial than standard wedding mags, has more relevant suppliers and featured weddings, and looks a little bit special on our coffee table!
I hope this helps to prove that exhibitor wrong! If they aren't advertising in I Do more fool them!

I picked up a copy the other day at a wedding fair in Rotherham. Me and my partner have read through it and found it quite interesting.
where else can you find all you need for your big day? I feel it is important that the magazine offers local companys available to us as magazines i have bought in the supermarket give ideas and companys from places as distant as London which isnt any good for a yorkshire lass getting married in yorkshire.
It was also nice to read about other peoples weddings and get ideas for our own.

Yes I do read I Do magazine.  I find it interesting and helpful.  It has given me lots of ideas for my upcoming wedding, shown me shops that I did not know existed therefore giving me more suppliers to look at allowing me to get better deals and through the magazine I signed up to the magazine website, which gives even more helpful ideas.

Yes myself and Neil my Husband to be, read the I do mag, and found ideas and tips very useful, I saw an advert for the big day bridal shop in Castleford, and have got some lovely underwear and shoes from there.

We are due to marry at Tankersley manor on 2/4/11, and I can't wait.

I certainly do read I Do magazine, it's full of inspirational idea's and fact's about the big day.  The directory on the back page is a fantastic idea too and also very handy.

I like to take a look at the magazine!  I love browsing through the pages to give me ideas and inspiration for my forthcoming wedding this year!  Also the magazine is good for looking at the websites which doesn't always come up on your search engine to find wedding products/accessories/dresses for the bride and bridesmaids and also ideas for the groom!

I think it is a brilliant magazine and if i saw it in the shops I would buy it, Just like Derbyshire I Do. I think the national mags are too froo froo and I only bought 2 of these an never really read them. Yours is a more readable magazine.

When I was planning my wedding I was looking for ideas for venues, dresses, looking at what other brides had done for flowers, bridesmaids dresses etc.

I loved reading about each featured wedding and have clipped bits I liked for my scrap book of ideas.

I forgot to tell you what I think of the magazine, I think it's good, it is very informative, provided me with all the information I needed without overloading me. In a way I think it's more informative than other wedding magazines. Less pages but more straight to the point

Lots of adverts (but good adverts) but they're quite different between one and another, even for the same category. My favourite feature is the real life wedding, probably because I was looking for some real-life inspiration for my wedding and it is also good to know what other couple were thinking and how they dealt with wedding stress...

Yes Sarah I do!!! - read the I Do magazine.  I really enjoy the real life weddings and was pleased to see one in the latest copy I have featuring the Old Golf house hotel in huddersfield where my fiance and I are getting married in November this year.  It was lovely to see that the bride used the same florist that I have chosen too!!  The hints and tips are fab and I have seen hairstyles and table decorations that have inspired my choices.

i have to say i have only read a little of the magazine but have looked at the pictures mainly for my idea's and the articals of the weddings that are in it
i do think that it is a good magazine and think that they guy who advised your colleague was trying to wind him up

I read it when i got it in a pack from one of the wedding fayres in October but haven't had or read a copy since. I do however read the emails (even though I get a lot of emails) and pop on the website at least once a month at the moment.

I didn't know about it until I recieved it a the wedding fayre and to be honest forgot about it quite quickly and it wasn't until I started reading the emails that I remembered I had a copy of the magazine.

I've just had a look through it again and its helpful and informative however I did feel like i was a little bombarded with adverts - even some of the articles felt a little like advertisements.

Yes I have the last few issues of I Do and have read every one and kept them to look back at and got some good ideas for our wedding from them.  I've found it much more helpful than a lot of other magazines (and cheaper!) as it's local and so has lots of company details and pictures of venues.

YES I certainly do read 'I Do'!! I have found it really useful for my wedding planning along with the updates from yourself and Richard about local wedding fayers!! Maybe that particular exhibitor has actually gained valuable custom from someone, like me, who checks where the fayers are, attends and then books with exhibitors!! Or with his attitude maybe not eh?? lol.

I recently got the last edition of I Do Magazine at The Sitwell Wedding Fayre, and to be honest both myself and my mum looked at the magazine.
I do find it interesting and does include a range of companies to suit all budgets, to which i  like because a lot of mags you buy you find they just put the elite in. Also it nice to have a mag thats local so you know you are not having to travel to london (lets say) to get what you  see in the mag.
I do also know my friend also reads so i wouldn't agree with them

Yes I for one do read the magazine. I also find the advertisements a good help with local places to go! Anyone who does get the magazine and doesn't read it I would say is missing out on help with arranging their wedding, it's good help to look through on the days where you don't have a wedding fair to attend but still need some advise!

When I received my copy I looked though it.

I noticed my cake and flowers in there which looked really good.

I love the real wedding photos and normal woman looking fab in their dresses.

So yes to answer your question.

Also as you send me lists of wedding fairs I keep going to them and keep seeing more and more stuff I'd love.

Not good for keeping on budget, oh well.

What am I going to do with my spare time once I'm married, loving planning it!

I do read the magazine in fact its where we got our photographer from and we passed it on to my sister in law to be to have a look at for her wedding plans.

Its really good and I particularly like the way it is set into sections for different elements of a wedding.

Firstly thank you for your information about Wedding Fayres this weekend .. we are thinking about going to the Keepmoat - not actually been there yet.
I can imagine Richard was a bit miffed .. he he ....Yes I do read I Do .. must admit if I recommend it to my brides then I give them the website address .. Im very surprised if exhibitors dont read it .. and other similar magazines actually .. its an ideal way to keep up to date with new trends and products.

Unfortunately due to the recent financial climate my partner has lost his job so the wedding is currently on hold although i do enjoy the emails i receive from yourselves with offers and venue ideas.

I hope this helps and have been to a few of your wedding fayres and they have always given me ideas and a lot of useful contacts that i probably wouldn't have had had i not been to your fayres.

If I'm honest, I haven't actually been reading many I Do magazines as when I originally signed up to the emailing list it was to forward info onto my sister who was engaged. I DO read I Do magazine! I have recently started out with my handcrafted wedding stationery business and I still read the magazine! I got married myself a few years ago and got the magazine from a Wedding Fayre and most definitely, as a future bride, read it and loved it! I also spent a fortune on other bridal mags! So I would say to you and Richard - they are definitely wrong!!

I would love to be able to afford to advertise in the I Do magazine but as yet I simply can't afford it as the business is very new - I hope to be able to advertise with you when I have had a few orders.

i do read them and i think they are very helpful it would help if there was a little bit more in them for people on a very tight budget like myself for instance im on a 400 pound budget that means for everything but i do think they are ok and maybe some more give away things might help if people had things in there to give away for example wedding dresses and stationary just an idea thats all it might get more interest thank you

Yes we picked the magazine up at a wedding fayre and have kept it to look at for ideas and suggestions and also go on the web site to have a look at different things. As we're getting married abroad it wasn't perhaps as useful but interesting anyway.

I have relocated to Chesterfield from Bedfordshire and we never had anything like this where I used to live.

Yes, I do read I Do magazine, and I can confirm that there are lots of other people reading the magazine too. Some of my friends are getting married and they pick up the magazine from wedding fayres.

I used to work in Debenhams as a wedding adviser, I was in charge of wedding events and always pick some copies from the events because brides kept stealing our copies.

I have found it really interesting and has helped me make quite a lot of my decisions!! Go back and tell them they are wrong with a Capital 'W'!!!  Likelihood is that the other exhibitor hasn't had nearly as much business from their wedding fayres as you have!  Jealously is a terrible thing!

In response to nobody reading I Do magazine - I have read the two issues I have had from cover to cover - the magazine has proved invaluable to me and my fiance in helping us to find local suppliers for our wedding in September. I have passed on my copies to my future sister in law for her wedding planning and she has also found the articles and advertisements very useful.

i havent read any recent issues as have now planned my wedding, less than 3 weeks to go.  I do still refer back to old issues though and will be passing them on to my friend who is getting married, i have cut out pictures to show my florist and to give ideas to my photographer.

I definitely did read I do mag it had some great ideas for everyone, as I have found most mags usually cater for the younger bride. 
Not everyone wants to look like a toilet top bride especially if they are getting married for the 1st time at a more mature age, sometimes less is more !!!!
However, I do think that wedding mags should include more ideas for veggies .... wedding cakes made from cheese etc.

I think it is a very impressive looking magazine and once my business is fully up and running  i am going to contact you re advertising if thats possible?  I also use your website to keep me up to date with wedding fairs.

I have read two copies of I Do Magazine now and find each issue very informative and interesting and have got some good ideas from the magazine to be honest it is much better than the wedding magazines you can buy in newagents and the suppliers featured in your magazine are obviously mainly from the local area which is great.

I have read I DO Magazine quite a few times. It is really informative, gives you lots of ideas and contacts to help I was so confused with which colour I wanted to have at our wedding but going through the magazine helped me choose the colours I want.

I believe that many people read this magazine at some point while planning their wedding as it is a great resource for organizing that special day.

Just to say I do read I Do magazine and have found it useful at putting me in contact with local businesses.  As you know there is lots to organise and not originally coming from Yorkshire I found I Do an excellent starting point when it came to making arrangements.  I have also found the Wedding Fayre data very useful and when this weekend to the Light Leeds and pick myself up an I Do magazine.

I don't have a hard copy of the mag but I do read the online version... it's great and there are loads of offers... the only thing I have with it is it tends to not cover Leeds as much as I would like. :-( and I never win any competitions... :-(

I am always looking at the I Do magazine, I like the fact that it is set out in different segments ie wedding dresses, mother of the bride, flowers etc.

It also offers a wide range of budgets for our Wedding which is important at this time.

If I see something I would like for my wedding I will refer back to the I Do magazine and look through the suppliers in there to see if they can help. I have used up to now 3 suppliers from the magazine and we are still looking and buying.

That couldn't be further from the truth!! Myself, my mum, mother-in-law to be (i've even seen my other half have a peek), we all look through them when we get one, and not just once.
They are great if you’re looking for suppliers for your wedding or even just for ideas that you had not thought of. I love looking at the dresses, flowers, cakes, table layouts etc etc.
The person who said this to Richard must either not be getting married, a man, or someone who doesn't want any ideas for their wedding because it has inspired us greatly!! You should see my mums face when I get another one, she's like a kid in a candy store!! lol

I have already read the most recent issue and keep going back to it for ideas and potential suppliers. I think it's an invaluable resource for any bride and those that don't read it are potentially missing out on some of the best local talent/venues/resources available.

Yes i have read I do mag and keep dipping into if for inspiration & ideas.  I like all the pics & info from other peoples weddings.  A lot of the other articals are advertisements but thats OK if there is lots of pics so even so if not interested in their service because they say based in sheffield and I live/marry in leeds it may be that the pics give me an idea.  The mag feels nice and looks good quality my only criticism would be the size - its a bit big and is always at the bottom of my mag pile due to size...but i can always find it quick!

I went to the Kenwood Hall a few weeks ago and got the Yorkshire Magazine in which I read from cover to cover.
It has helped me out a lot and I have got my bridesmaid dresses from Emily Bridal in which the magazine advertised them.
It has helped me out with the flower shops and also the photographers in which I have got Shakespere photography meeting next week and another one and both was out of the magazine.
I also find it very interesting in reading about other people wedding.
So those other people need to start reading them as I have felt it very helpful, in fact my mum has seen her outfit in the last addition and I read it over again to ensure that I don’t miss anything.

Apologies for my delayed reply, I have a 5 month old little girl so I often get way-layed with things!
I can say that I am a fan of the 'I Do' magazine and find it very useful to have the book to hand and love to browse through the images of the latest bridal fashions and reading up on the latest wedding 'fads and must-haves', however, I also use the website quite often, probably a bit more than the magazine...maybe you could save costs on printing and send an e-magazine to your fans and clients?  (just a suggestion).
I also find the regular emails and updates from yourself very useful, and would like to thank you for the obvious hard work and passion you put into your job :)
